My quilting experience started when I was working in Philadelphia with a nurse who was a quilter. She was making a small hand pieced Christmas wall hanging. I thought I could talk her into teaching me, but she told me to take a beginners class at a local shop. She gave me the information and I was pleased to find out that the shop was very close to where I lived.

I took my first quilting class at Quilted Treasures, Inc. in Atco, New Jersey. I took this class with a close friend, and neighbor, Beth Wesson. We had so much fun. The teacher, Libby Hage is a genius. This first class lead to many more classes together. Beth moved to Illinois with her husband. Sure do miss Beth.

I became interested in machine quilting because hand quilting is very time consuming. I started to look at longarm quilting machines and after two years of searching I decided to take the plunge. In January of 2000, my husband and I took a trip to North Carolina and bought my first machine.

The machine was installed at Quilted Treasures, Inc. as soon as we returned from North Carolina. The shop moved across the street to a location that had more room six months later.

I have taken lessons from some of the machine quilting industries finest. Karen McTavish, Sherry Rogers-Harrison, Nichole Webb, Kimmy Brunner, Linda Taylor and Cherie Mineke-Johnson and Pam Clarke.

I am a graduate of Indiana State University Nursing School and I am currently working in the Vascular Access Department of a local hospital on a per diem basis. I also work part time at a local radiology outpatient facility, doing injections for CT and MRI.

I am involved in Girl Scouting and BSA Venture Scouting. I have had a troop for the past nine years. I am proud to say that there are still 9 girls in my troop. These girls are in 8th, 9th and 10th grades. Five of these girls are Silver Award recipients. We are currently beginning work to complete the Gold Award. I am very proud of these girls.
